Joyce McFarland
Book description:
Set in rural North Carolina in the 1950’s - 1960’s, the South was plagued with resistance to integration. It was a place still consumed with overt racism, shameless displays of prejudice and the exhausting fight of the Civil Rights Movement. These circumstances shaped the world around most, but a young girl with a passion for life shined a bright light through the darkest of times. Through the eyes of a nine-year-old girl, she shares her perspective on life, love, Faith and family.
I’ve worked in factories and cotton mills; I’ve worked as a maid and a nanny; I’ve worked as an office clerk and served as a food services director. And For the last sixteen years, I have managed the North Carolina Supreme Court Printing Department. But my greatest achievement by far was over forty years ago, when I made Jesus Christ the Lord of my life. Everything I have and everything I am --or ever will be --is because of Him!
